Setting up Ladder Toss is a breeze. Simply assemble the ladders, which usually involves snapping a few pieces together, and place them about 15-20 feet apart (adjustable based on skill level and space).
How do you play Ladder Toss?
Players take turns tossing the bolas, aiming to wrap them around the ladder rungs. The top rung scores 3 points, the middle rung 2 points, and the bottom rung 1 point. The first player to reach exactly 21 points wins the game. You could make a variation of the game where the bottom rung is in fact the highest of points. Though the bolas sometimes do fall from the top to land here, we actually found it was harder to wrap around the bottom rung than the top rung.

This answer depends on if you want to set up the ladders each time you play. The game can be stored already set up if you have a good sized shed/garage to keep it in. The set that we have from GoSports was also designed to be extremely portable, with a carrying case that makes it easy to bring the game to parks, beaches, or camping trips.

Most Ladder Toss sets are built to withstand outdoor conditions. Look for sets made from sturdy materials like PVC or metal for long-lasting fun. The set that we have from GoSports won’t be the most durable, but it is solid for backyard play. The bolas should be durable enough to handle countless tosses without fraying or breaking, and this set does that. We like that this set specifically has rubber balls compared to actual golf balls. (With kids, we have seen one too many golf balls through windows.)

As mentioned a few times above, we purchased this Ladder Toss set from GoSports. It is currently priced at $32.99. Backyard games have definitely risen in price as a whole, but this is a great price for the game you get. It is not the most durable as described above, but it’s priced fairly to reflect that. If you are interested in a more solid option, Yardgames.com always has great games and has a wooden version for around $65.
